Water means life and is therefore a vital resource in all of agriculture so managing our use therefore is critical.

  • 50% of our water requirement is stored in our dams located across our farms. 
  • Vineyards are irrigated by gravity flow. 
  • Our nursery is propagating early ripening, disease resistant vines that require significantly less water and no spraying. Over the last 2 years 8 of these varietals have been vinified to ascertain their suitability for the market. 
  • We use 35% less water (saving 215 000 m3) by switching from overhead sprinklers to drip irrigation. 
  • Our new callusing technique in the grafting nursery increases the ‘take’ percentage from 40% to 55% which saves 22% on all inputs and resources.
